House of Wellness Segment Highlights Ameer Lab Electronic Bandage
In a segment running May 5th and 7th, Australian television program House of Wellness introduced viewers to an exciting new invention - an electronic bandage that accelerates wound healing by 30% in patients with diabetic ulcers before dissolving into the skin. In the interview, the bandage's inventor, Guillermo Ameer, walks viewers through the utility of electronic stimulation therapy in promoting healing, as well as the approach's typical limitations: bulky, expensive equipment that keeps patients in the hospital for the duration of recovery. Ameer's bandage is lightweight, easy to apply, and can monitor healing progress directly during a patient's daily life. For the 15 to 25 percent of the diabetic population that develops the ulcers this new bandage is designed to treat, this could be a major step forward in both recovery and quality of life. The electronic bandage is currently undergoing animal trials, and will aim to hit the market in the next few years.
