Ameer, CARE Alumni Honored at BMES Annual Meeting

Ameer wearing the Athanasiou MedalThe Biomedical Engineering Society bestowed a number of honors during its 2023 Annual Meeting in Seattle on October 11-14th, with several current and former CARE members among them.  CARE Director Guillermo Ameer received the BMES Athanasiou Medal of Excellence in Translational Bioengineering Award, recognizing the achievements of an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the field of biomedical engineering with a particular focus in translation.  Ameer is a pioneer in the development of citrate-based biomaterials, including several tissue fixation devices currently on the market.  The most recent, CITRELOCK ACL, recently received FDA clearance.  More information on the Athanasiou Medal can be found here.
